SUNDAY BIBLE STUDY

Worship leader committed the service to the Lord in prayer and an uplifting praise and worship session ensued. The offerings was dedicated to the Almighty by Upa Songzalian.

In a call to prayer, Pastor Suankhanhau read out Psalms 46:1-3 urging the congregation to turn to God, who is our refuge and strength and a present help in times of trouble. After leading the mass prayer, he welcomed the visitors/first timers to the church.

Pastor then took up bible study on Ephesians 1: 3-14 (Lessons 3 & 4 of Hilhchianbu). He explained that the passage is about spiritual blessings and God's eternal plan in Christ. God is the source of every spiritual blessings in Christ and is to be praised. Taking a moment for reflection, he posed the question - How much spiritual blessings have you received or used? Do you value earthly blessings which are temporal, more than the spiritual blessings which are eternal? Pastor then propounded on the role/work of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit for us to obtain spiritual blessings:

  • God the Father chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love and predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself. But this can become real only if we accept Jesus Christ.
  • God the Son redeemed us, forgave our sins, made known to us the mystery of His will and enable us to obtain an inheritance in Him.
  • God the Holy Spirit sealed us and guarantee our inheritance.

We are given the gift of salvation to glorify God. Introspection is needed on whether we live a life glorifying Him, otherwise, we will not serve our purpose on this earth. Paul’s fear is that his life will not glorify God and he always strove to do so. God is calling us also to do the same.  The sermon concluded with Pastor affirming that God is going to fulfill all His purpose and urging the congregation to dedicate their lives to Him, live a life of thanksgiving and praise according to His will and glorify Him in everything.

The congregation rose and led by the worship team, sang the last hymn. The service concluded with thanksgiving prayer by Upa Chinsum.
